These instructions are for installing Ostendo standalone on a PC only. These are not applicable for installing Ostendo on a server and network. If you need assistance with this please contact us.

  1. You will need to create folders or the Ostendo database and application outside of 'Programme Files (86)' or 'Program Files'. will prevent the security in Windows 10 interfering with the software working in Programme Files (86).
  2. A simple setup for a standalone computer installation is to create an ‘Ostendo’ folder on your C:\ and under it a ‘Database’ folder.
  3. Download the installation file provided to you.
  4. Close all programmes.
  5. Right click on the installation file and select 'Run the install file as administrator'.
  6. The Firebird SQL database engine will install first followed by the Ostendo application in one installation process.
  7. Accept the default folder locations for the Firebird installation segment.
  8. When Ostendo installs it will default to Programme Files (x86) starting with the database and then the Ostendo application. When you reach this point in the installation you will need to change two location paths.
    1. Change the installation path for the Database to C:\Ostendo\Database, or the folder you created for it.
    2. Change the installation path for the Ostendo application to C:\Ostendo, or the folder you created for it.

This will install a live and a demo database, which can be accessed by two icons on your desktop. A 30 day trial licence comes with the software by default from the first time it is installed.

The default user name is 'ADMIN' and the password is 'pass' for both these databases. The Demo database has some demo data in it.
